SELF REFLECTION

CHRISTMAS 2020.. LIKE NEVER BEFORE?

CHRISTMAS 2020.. LIKE NEVER BEFORE? There can’t be one person in the country that had a normal christmas this year. However if we look back in history there have been much worse years. This year is just unprecedented. Uncertainty being the worst part of it. None of us know what will come next and when. A new strain of Covid that seems to spreading faster than bad gossip means many more business’s going bankrupt, and incomes lost. Again it’s all about how we deal with these things. Some missed loved ones and were grateful they were well. Some felt they were entitled to a bumper christmas because there has been a dreadful year. Every year I complain about the pushing and shoving that goes in supermarkets. The bullying of young people working on checkouts. Greed everywhere.

Just like in other posts the pandemic is something we all need to learn from. Look past the virus and focus on what it is capable of taking away from us. More over, what can we take from it and move forward with? change the way we live? to a degree yes. Change the way we view the world? definitely yes! If these events are meant to teach us anything it’s perception. Knowledge is vital and always a good resource, but common sense and balanced perception are what is needed to survive the changes this will bring. The effects are going to be far reaching and comprehensive for years to come of course, but the problems caused by ignorance may never be recovered from.

CHRISTMAS 2020.. LIKE NEVER BEFORE?

CHRISTMAS 2020.. LIKE NEVER BEFORE?

When we look at a situation with our own eyes we think they cannot lie. Seeing is believing right? not always. There are times when we see exactly what we want to see. Even when it is physically right in front of us. Our eyes see an image and our brain interprets the message it receives. So we see what our mind sees. Have you ever looked at the trees and plants one day and not really taken any notice ? Then the next day walked down the same street, looked at the same pictures and thought they were the most beautiful thing you had ever seen? If the answer was Yes then I am happy for you because you will perceive the positives this current event is showing us. A better way to perceive the world around us and appreciate it. Take stock of what we have achieved so far and how we can do better in the future. It’s a cleche but without all this we would not have stopped to think about it.

“Stop and smell the Roses”. One of the sayings your grandmother came out with and at the time you just smiled, humored her then carried on with whatever you were doing. ” don’t have time for this now Nan “, yes I did it too. When we won’t listen and heading down the wrong path, life and the universe will always make us stop and revaluate our lives. Look back, smell the roses and then look forwards. Do better. We all need to because this won’t stop until we do. Play nice, look into what you have around you and what is really important. Events 4 years ago in my life made me do the same thing. Nothing in life is ever free but we rarely really pay the greatest debts with money. When you are in intensive care or worse dead, money will be useless.
