WHAT THE COVID PANDEMIC IS DOING TO OUR MENTAL HEALTH

ANGER AND RESENTMENT
REPRESSED ANGER ?

ANGER AND RESENTMENT EAT AT YOUR SOUL…. emotions that make us feel negative tend to eat away at us. It can change who we are. Furthermore it is our decision whether we change for the better or worse. Likewise an effective way of turning a negative into a positive is to see it as an opportunity for growth. In the same way, lets take the current Covid 19 pandemic and the impact that is having on our decision making and mental health in general. i t can either be a situation that sends us into a deep depression where we allow it to affect our lives in a negative way for a very long time, or we turn it around and use the time to reflect on the way we are currently living our lives.

ANGER AND RESENTMENT EAT AT YOUR SOUL….

Nobody likes it, but there is precious little more we can do than we already are. The lockdown gave us time to maybe take up a new hobby. In the first place I spent a lot of time in the garden. As a result the garden looks great. In the same way a tan was developed and weight loss ensued. As a result my energy levels and mood went up considerably. We got to spend more time with the family. By the same token there were a great many losses and this is ongoing for many. Moreover, resentment is building and the “help each other attitude and we love the NHS ” cries faded pretty quickly. It’s behavior in the human race that repeats over and over again. I have observed a shift in attitude since lockdown was lifted of resentment. Yes many are actually sulking!!!

HARDSHIP

Many people are suffering actual hardship as a result of the pandemic. Of course there is the financial issues of lockdown. Losing their jobs and security can lend to mental health issues. As a result of lockdown the country’s economy has suffered and many business’s have been ruined. The knock on effects will be felt for years to come. Of course those effects for some will never go away . Many lives have changed forever. So why so many getting agitated over silly little things ? Similarly many have lost loved ones and are suffering immense grief.

DO WE REALLY KNOW WHAT HARDSHIP IS ?

The answer is pretty simple. We had it easy for so long that hardship doesn’t come easy. To the generation that lived through the wars this is nothing. Maybe we should think about that and thank our lucky stars that it’s not the 3rd World War. We would certainly know what hardships were then and just a few more of us would not be here. Instead of whining because our liberty is restricted and we were only allowed to buy the essentials when we shopped, or we have to stop drinking at 10pm, maybe we could try waking up each morning and writing down at least 3 things we can be grateful for? in a pandemic waking up every morning is one of them surely,

BE GRATEFUL
BE GRATEFUL

APPRECIATE THE SIMPLE THINGS

In the first place we could take time to appreciate the things we are normally too busy or just don’t think to appreciate. Go for a walk and stop to look at the trees and flowers. Learn to be happy with the simplest things in life. Notice everything around you. Stop and smell the flowers. The old saying of ” make time to smell the roses” that’s exactly what is needed now. These things happen because we need to realize what is more important than all the luxuries we have and some that we are having to miss right now. Think twice and count to 10 before you become so easily irritated by things that really don’t matter. If we are all honest with ourselves we are all at least a little guilty of the above right now.

THE AIR OF FRUSTRATION BUILDING AROUND COVID

TOO MANY THINK THEY KNOW EVERYTHING AND NOTHING

We all have something to say about the government and the way they handle things. Although isn’t a little unfair as it is impossible to please and save everyone? In a situation like this surely the politicians should all work together and prove they are capable of caring for their country. It’s not a political opportunity, even though it seems to be for America! There is a huge lesson to learn and not just one either from the current situation. At the beginning of the lockdown everyone seemed to have the right attitude, we were all in shock I guess and pulled together. Al though I have felt for years that something like this was on the horizon, not for a second did I think I could actually be onto something.

Now it seems many people have had enough of the situation and cannot sustain the human compassion so many of us found in the beginning.

THINK ABOUT THESE POOR BUGGERS
COVID- 19 change life as we knew it?

Think of these poor buggers. Could you run around a hospital in this horrendously hot kit dealing with day in day out? Not to mention the obvious risk of catching it themselves. hospitals are always too hot anyway so this must have been hell. We moan about wearing a face mask, but this all day or night or both must be hell on earth. So lets all give ourselves a swift kick up the rump and stop moaning.
